San Francisco is always worth a trip.
And even though it will already be a highlight to walk through the hilly streets with all those colourful and fascinating houses, I wanted to share a few personal things to do for a great experience in the foggy city.
One MUST SEE while in SF is the famous prison Alcatraz. Tickets sell out far in advance especially in the summer months, so you need to get your pass 3 months before arriving. But for the last minute travellers of you, there is a chance to lay your handy on walk-up tickets.
Cross the Golden Gate Bridge
The most photographed bridge of the world is in San Francisco. But don’t just take pictures of it: Cross it by foot, on a bike or in a car, at least once or twice.
Ride the Cable Cars
Everyone who grew up with the show Full House wanted to do this so badly. Take your chance and don’t forget to stop at the FREE cable car museum and take some cheezy tourist pictures.
Daytrip to Sausalito
When you have a spare day, don’t miss the cute town just across Golden Gate Bridge.
See the most winding street of the world or even better: Bike down the street and send me a picture of it!!
Sea lions at Pier 39
There is no San Francisco visit without a clichée walk around Pier 39 and watching the lazy sea lions chill in the sun.
The View Lounge at Marriott Marquis
This skybar is not called The View Lounge for no reason. End your day of exploring SF with a drink and stunning view over the city.
Stroll through Ashbury & Haight
You will see all kinds of people and things in this neighborhood. Give it an afternoon of exploration.
Another must see from the Full House intro. I mean seriously, how awesome was that show!?
Hippie tree swing
Take a swing with fantastic view of Golden Gate Bridge when the fog is not to heavy. How to find this paradise swing.
Battery Spencer for an incredicle view of GGB
Second best when no helicopter is near by for a view from kinda above.
Off the grid: Presidio Picnic
Probably my personal highlight when in San Fancisco. Every sunday (spring through october) a load of individual foodtrucks come to Main Parade Ground to serve delicious snacks while a DJ is providing a proper atmosphere.
Muir Beach outside San Francisco
A neat getaway from the city buzz, located just outside of San Francisco. Sneak in some bonfire beach time if you get a chance.
